چکیده
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, European bison (Bison bonasus) is a vulnerable species. susceptible mycobacterial infections, as evidenced by numerous confirmed tuberculosis cases in this Diagnostic methods have developed significantly recent years, but performing several parallel tests (serological, microbiological, molecular, cell-mediated based tests) still most appropriate algorithm confirm or exclude Mycobacterium complex infection This study primarily aimed determine whether some additional biomarkers could be helpful diagnosis bison. Whole blood and serum from eight with known TB status were used study. Four these caprae-positive four M. caprae-negative. The material was tested basic hematological biochemical parameters three selected acute phase proteins: ceruloplasmin, haptoglobin, amyloid A (SAA). found no significant changes tuberculosis, one advanced lesions showed increased concentrations haptoglobin SAA. These preliminary studies show that determining acute-phase proteins an supportive tool can diagnose its severity. Further research needed number individuals.

Coronary arteries of the European bison (Bison bonasus)
BACKGROUND The European bison (Bison bonasus) is an endangered species. More information on its anatomy is needed as only few studies have been published. This study is the first report on the morphology of the coronary vessels. Given the anatomical similarity between the European bison and other ruminants, the results of this study can be applied to other species, including endangered ones. ...

Toxoplasma gondii Nicolle et Manceaux, 1908 is an apicomplexan parasite with a worldwide distribution. It is of great medical and veterinary importance because it may cause abortion or congenital disease in its intermediate hosts, including man. The European bison, the largest herbivorous animal in Europe, is a species that has been saved from extinction. Twenty-four of 95 examined sera of the ...

متن کاملLiver histological structure in adult European bison. Bison bonasus (Linnaeus, 1758).
The histological structure of the liver in 12 European bison, 2-8 years old, was presented. The study of the hepatic lobule showed that in Bison bonasus there were no connective septa around the hepatic lobules. On the hepatic lobule territory, solitary bile ducts, respectively solitary arterioles, were sometimes observed. Every one of these vessels was isolated from the hepatic parenchyma by t...

Recent breeding and conservation of European bison are hindered by numerous health problems. These animals have a low resistance and poor tolerance to adverse environmental conditions. In E. bison frequently are diagnosed abnormalities and dysfunctions of reproductive organs. This is undoubtedly associated with a high rate of inbreeding in this species. In males more often so called preputial d...
